NHRA Pros set to roar down Bristol’s famed ‘Thunder Valley’ quarter-mile
The 8th annual O’Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals roards to life today at Bristol Dragway in Tennessee, race eight of the 24-event NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The historic Bristol facility, which first hosted an NHRA event back in 1965, is unique in its setting, a quarter-0mile strip nestled between two hills that helps creates a unique sound as the nitro engines roar and led to the facility’s “Thunder Valley” nickname. Brandon Bernstein (pictured), John Force, and Jeg Coughlin are the defending pro champs.
Professional qualifying gets a late start today with the Pro Stockers hitting the track at 4 p.m. Eastern followed by a second session under the lights. Stay tuned to NHRA.com for the latest news, results, photos, video, and our exclusive live audiocast of the day’s racing.
