Houston Raceway Park
Sitting on 440 acres, Houston Raceway Park opened in 1988 with a state-of-the-art, three-floor timing tower complete with 24 corporate suites. The original facility included paved pit spaces and grandstands on both sides of the track. In 1995, seats were added on the pit-side grandstands and, in 1996, the underside of the pit grandstands was paved and extended to include the Manufacturers’ Midway. In 1997 new fiber-optic scoreboards were installed, as were permanent Top Eliminator Club grandstands. A paved spectator parking lot was added in 1997. In 1999 concrete guardwalls were installed along the length of the track through the shutdown area. Additional expansion continued away from the drag strip in 2000 when a 3/8-mile clay oval track was constructed, complete with paved pits and seating for 10,000.

HOW TO GET THERE: Baytown is about 30 miles east of downtown Houston. The track is located 2.5 miles south of Interstate 10. From downtown Houston, take I-10 east to Highway 146 and go south to FM 565. Take FM 565 east about three miles to the track. From Highway 146 south, take Spur 55 east to FM 1405, then go north to FM 565 and east about two miles to the track
